Tuesday, June 2, 2009, Sanderson RC flying field (SFRCF) Top Gun Kentfield Charles came to steal their 54 jets. How much space in your truck and launch support equipment to take? About all this!
The first thing to be unpacked in the truck was a craft assembly consisting of a piece of stovepipe mounted on a wooden stand. This meeting was to learn later, is located directly behind the jet exhaust of the turbine to contain the flames caused by a "hot start". A"Hot start" occurs when excess fuel or liquid propane into the engine before you start (the engine is flooded).
Followed by other services, including the body and wings of the jet. Everyone present was fascinated as Charles said that the end of business aircraft, turbine J600. The turbine is produced by planes PST. After unloading the truck, the wing joins the body of the aircraft.
Prepare the aircraft for the flight began with a review of the battery. There are two batteries inaircraft. A package management system of powers turbine engine (TEMS) and the other powers of radio equipment. The MET monitors the operation of the turbine. Propane gas jet power has started to add an out of closed containers.
When you start the turbine, propane is burned when the candle light – and the turbine starts to rotate. When the turbine reaches the RPM and temperature, the MET began turbine fuel pump and the turbine starts to burn oil.But first, the device must be powered by kerosene.
While refueling, Carlos has taken great care to ensure that no air bubble left in the fuel system: an air bubble can not stop the engine. Kerosene was injected into the system until it has run out of bubbles in an external tank overflow.
An important element in the pre-flight was to check the pressure of the cylinders to retract. First, Charles terminal connected to the land of the screen (TDM). The MST is used for programming, operate and supervise the MET. After preparation was completed before the flight, Charles began the startup procedure.
The engine was a bit 'flooded causing a dramatic "hot start" with the flame exhaust. Now appreciate the value of glass "flame containment unit." These events demonstrate the importance of having a long tour with a fire extinguisher. In this case, the fire extinguisher was not necessary and the aircraft was not damaged.
A little over an hourAfter reaching land, the turbine is started and brought Charles REACTION 54 on the track. Moments later, the plane was in flight.
Charles the plane landed and taxied off the runway, after the success of 7-minute flight. All those present enjoyed the first flight and was a second flight. It 'hard to express what I feel that the plane flew, the sound of the turbine sounded good, like a real airplane.
